The G.EDU Project

Τhe project “Gender Education of Teenage Boys: Developing a Digital ToolKit” started because of the shared concerns of four organizations, which recognize firstly, the need to establish a gender-sensitive and reflective education for all, and secondly, the social importance of transformative educational interventions in the early lives of individuals. At the same time, the four organizations highlight the need to engage boys and young men more actively into the conversation for gender equality.

For these reasons, this project provides educators/facilitators (e.g. trainers, teachers, youth and NGO workers, gender experts, gender and LGBTIQ+ activists, policy makers and other stakeholders) with a coherent, open, online educational tool-kit, the G.EDU platform. The platform includes a complete course on gender/gender-sensitive education targeting the audience of teenage boys, between 15 and 17 years old. The course can be applied to any mixed-gender audience. The platform is also available in the form of a mobile application for Android (the G.EDU Mobile Application).

The project is led by the Cypriot NGO Center for Gender Equality and History (KIIF), in cooperation with the Center for Social Innovation (CSI), a social enterprise based on Cyprus, specialized in digital and interactive learning environments; the Stichting Global Alliance For LGBT Education (GALE Foundation) in the Netherlands which is an NGO focused on LGBTIQ+ education; and the Associacio Conexus Atencio, Formacio I Investigacio Psicosocials - Conexus in Spain, an NGO specialized in combating gender-based violence.

The project was funded by the Youth Board of Cyprus within the framework of the European Program Erasmus+ (Key Action 2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, Strategic Partnerships for youth).

The creation of the G.EDU platform began on February 2020 and was completed by February 2022.
